This is my vocabulary wall, where I write all the academic vocabulary words that we have learned. I write each subject in a different color. A wonderful co-worker of mine created this for our whole team. I love teamwork!
I was collaborating with one of our RTI teachers and she loves my vocabulary program. The problem is, she doesn't always know the vocabulary that I'm teaching and I don't know the vocabulary that she is teaching. I created a "walkable" vocabulary chart. This chart is for all students that leave the classroom and go to see another teacher. Students could even take them to specials if you like. This is a great way for all teachers to know what vocabulary the student should know. For my specific vocabulary program, it's great for them to get credit for using vocabulary by other teachers. I can also give credit to them for using vocabulary that they learned from their other teacher. (Please look 2 posts down to see what I'm talking about.)
Have a great weekend!

I LOVE your vocab wall! I wish I had thought of writing words on a big surface with dry-erase markers too...your co-worker is brilliant! If I might ask, how big is your vocab wall? Do you change out the words after a certain amount of time? I love how my board looks (I have a post about it on my blog too) but your wall seems so much more efficient! I'm your newest follower! :)

Thank you! I'll measure it tomorrow and get back to you.
DeleteI do not change the words out. I just write them in different colors. My students ALWAYS remind me to add the words to the wall.
The actual poster is 24 in x 36 in.
DeleteI was wondering how big this is too. It looks larger than an 8 1/2 X 11 paper. Does each child have one too?
ReplyDeleteIt is bigger. My coworker got it enlarged at Kinkos. I'll measure it at school tomorrow and post the size. Each student has the walkable vocabulary, which is the size of a regular piece of paper.

DeleteI love the walkable word wall. My kids really struggle with vocabulary and it would be great to take with them during RTI time. Thanks for sharing!
